Drapery Hardware Pieces

Several different elements make up a complete drapery hardware set. When selecting how you want to hang your curtains and what aesthetic you are seeking, you will need to consider several options.

Curtain Rods

The classic, and most common, way to hang drapery is on a traditional curtain rod. Rod pocket curtains slide over the rod while other varieties hang from rings. When selecting a rod for your home, you want to consider the size. You want to make sure it is small enough to fit in your rod pocket or inside the rings, but you also want to make it large enough to hold the weight and give the look you desire. The larger the diameter of the rod, the more noticeable it will be. Rods can come in straight and curved and can be made of metal, wood, or resin.

Traverse Tracks

Traverse track systems are often used for taller windows and sliding glass doors. Instead of sliding a curtain along a rounded rod, this system is a series of small, hooked wheels along a track. Traverse tracks are also a great choice if you are using curtains for closets or creating separate spaces in your home.

Brackets

These drapery hardware pieces are used to hold curtain rods or traverse tracks in place. You usually want to select a bracket that matches your curtain rod or traverse track. When selecting brackets, you want to make sure you know how and where you would like to hang your drapery. There are different options for mounting inside the window frame, on the wall above the window, or on the ceiling. There are also brackets designed to hold two curtain rods if you have a sheer and opaque curtain or want a layered look. You can even select decorative elements like rosettes if you want your hardware to stand out.

Finials/End Caps

These decorative elements are placed at the end of the curtain rods. End caps are usually simple flat stoppers that match the rod and give a clean edge. Rings
